How to Add Sealant to a Tubeless Bicycle Tire
Share
Tubeless bicycle tires have revolutionized the way we ride; we enjoy fewer flats, and punctures don't require the labor they used to. Despite the many benefits, tubeless tires require periodic maintenance to optimize puncture protection, and the process can be messy. In this guide, I'll show you how to add tubeless tire sealant through a simple (and less messy) process. For best results, you should follow this process when adding sealant to a newly installed tire, or when refreshing for upkeep every few months.
Let's start by releasing the air from the tire...
Next, using your preferred tool, remove the Presta valve stem
Thread a Sealant Funnel onto the valve stem
(PRO TIP: You may want to pinch and hold the top of the tire before and while you add sealant. Later, this will help the sealant flow into the tire.)
Add your preferred sealant. Release the top of the tire to help draw the sealant through the valve stem.
Now with the sealant in the tire, remove the funnel.
Install the valve stem and add air to the tire. You are now ready to ride!
